Our Day with Hollie Steel and Family
Yesterday, my family and I went to visit Hollie, Josh, Nina and Jason Steel at their home. Jason and Nina had kindly invited us over to see them as a thank you for me setting up this Hollie Steel fan site, which is lovely of them. It is great to feel appreciated!
We arrived mid afternoon and enjoyed an endless supply of hospitality - the day went by so fast. Nina played me a version of Hollie singing Nessun Dorma that she is currently working on in a studio, and it was absolutely amazing. It would blow your socks off, I promise! If you were judging her as an adult singing it would sound amazing, but as an 11 year old girl – totally unbelievable.
We didn’t just talk about Hollie singing though – we had a normal, fun time. My children, Sam and Tomson, are each a year older than Josh and Hollie, and they all got on well together, playing on the trampoline, making noises with the amplifier and generally doing what children do – with a few exceptions. For example, whilst I was playing a Nightwish track for the Jason and Nina (I think Hollie would be great singing some of the Nightwish songs that Tarja Turunen used to sing such as Ever Dream or Wishmaster), we could hear Josh playing the piano. Wow! Such an accomplished pianist, as is dad Jason. Josh will be entering Britain’s Got Talent next year, so let’s hope he gets through next time.
Meanwhile, my son Tomson is certainly looking forward to being asked what he did during the Summer holidays: “Oh, I met Hollie Steel!”
He was so looking forward to meeting Hollie and didn’t really believe it would actually happen until we arrived on her doorstep.
I took some photos whilst we were there, the best of which are contained in this article. Feel free to use them in your tribute videos to Hollie if you would like to

Hollie seems to have grown up a lot for the last few months. She looks no more like a kid but like a young lady.
I wonder how you could hear Josh playing the piano while you were listening to Nightwish
Their music is so loud! If you turn down the volume enough to hear someone playing the piano in another room of the house you won’t make justice to their music.
You seem to have had a really really exciting day with the Steels. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Regards,
Georgi
You’re right, we couldn’t really hear Nightwish properly so we listened to them again whilst eating dinner!

Crystal, you can also talk to Hollie on her Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000050187358. Also, if you sign up for the forum, you will be able to chat will Hollie when she joins the chat room. The chats are always advertised on Facebook and this website, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long to speak to her.
Hi Mandy,
How lovely to see you and your family with Hollie’s family.
I am on Hollie Steel google alert so anything about her comes through to me here in NZ.
I have enjoyed keeping in touch with your site.
Keep up the good work as it is nice to keep track of the progress of a very talented young lady.
Best Regards, Sharon

Hello Mandy,
I echo Sharon’s comments. It is very generous of you to take the time to recount your visit with the Steels. The photos were great. I especially liked the one with all four kids together. Thanks.
I also want to wish good luck to Josh on his upcoming audition for BGT 2010. There is a 13 year old contestant, Arcadian Broad, on the current run of America’s Got Talent who has reached the semi-finals. Josh may be interested in looking at Arcadian’s quarter-final video on You Tube because he included both piano and dance in his act. Piers Morgan’s comments about this were interesting.
I noticed that Hollie’s latest Wikipedia entry states “She is recording her album in Manchester which will be out late 2010.”
Shouldn’t the date be late 2009? It’s hard to imagine a single album taking 15 months or more to complete. Perhaps, though, the difficulty is simply finding the free time to record or a more affordable deal?
Hi Mick and Sharon, you’re welcome. I couldn’t wait to tell all Hollie’s fans about my day with the Steel family. I also enjoyed being able to use my own photos for once.
Hollie is recording a few tracks at the moment in the hope that their amazingly high standard will enable her to get a recording contract.
Hi Mandy
Glad you had a great day Mandy, thanks for sharing with everyone.Photos were great. Hollie is sending out her demo’s so hopefully the recording contract will come soon.
Scott
Mandy many Thanks,
You are very pretty,
very nice to see this pictures and read about the Progresses.
Not to think we can Hollie see next only grown up young Lady Singer in 2020.
(Why do they not make a CD from the BGT all Finalist ans Semifinalists? I could not understand it, also if I know it.)
Or Hollie a Single from the 3 Songs?
Reaches them to make the money with sponsors in the youtube?
I am glad to ordered the travel to Bournemouth.
Yours Haselmouse
Hollie is a lovely girl with loads of talent who richly deserves a recording contract. Also I think shes as good or better than most I have seen on stage in professional theatrics. I would love to see more of the short clip of her in a stage play that was interposed in one of the you tube clips.
GOOD LUCK Hollie!! You are the bound to go far!
Dave
Probably Dave refers to the fragment of Hollie in the school musical Annie, from the Youtube video of Hollie going to school. I guess the TV company got this clip from Hollie’s school of from her parents. Maybe Nina has a longer video of this play, if she can forward it to Mandy it may be a nice addition to this webpage.
Wouter
Yes that is exactly what I was referring to. I would love to see it posted.
thank u mandy for taking these lovely photos and ur lovely story, u said feel fre to us the pics in ur videos well i used 2 of them now
You’re welcome
hey mandy thanx, i think u have noticed that someone made aalso a fansite, but please don´t think he made it to be in a competiton with u, no he only made this site cause he also really likes hollie and he wanted to do anything, he said he never could be in a competition with such agreat person like u are and he said ur site is absolutly the best i absolutly agree with that, he was only worried that anybody could missunderstand him with doing this website.
Hi Kevin, I don’t know who you’re referring to
but of course anyone is free to make whatever fan sites they want. The more publicity to help Hollie get a record deal and keep her in the public eye, the better, in my view.
ok, well the site is from scot.
Hi all and thanks for this post.
Mandy, you can’t believe how much I envy you of your visit to the Steel-family and meeting them in person but then again I can’t thank you enough for sharing it with us here on this site.
All my best to Hollie and her family and I can’t wait for the cd to come out.

Hi, Mandy.
These are all beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing! Hollie suddenly looks older ( not to mention very pretty!) I am the same age as Hollie, and she is my Idol!

Haselmaus
Can’t wait for your CD to come out, hope it’s out for Christmas.

Boo to you too. You can email Hollie via her mum using nina@holliesteel.org.uk
I’ve just added info about Hollie’s debut single on Wikipedia.
