Hollie Steel wants a record contract
29th April
Hollie Steel, who wowed judges in Britains Got Talent last Saturday, is hoping to land a record deal as well as appear on the West End stage, according to an article in the Lancashire Telegraph.
Speaking at her home the 10-year-old star from Britain’s Got Talent said that she thought her singing and dancing were “rubbish”, despite the glowing praise from the judges.
The youngster, who was also being interviewed by an American film crew whilst speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, now has a lot on her hands, but still manages to attend school, practice her singing for half an hour a night and attend dance school three times per week.
“When I was on Britain’s Got Talent I thought the singing and dancing was a bit rubbish.
“I thought I could do better. I thought they would have stopped me before.
“But when they didn’t I was really, really excited. When I’m on stage it’s exciting and scary the best bit is when everybody is cheering,”she said.
Hollie’s heroes in the performing arts world include X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke, Katherine Jenkins and Kerry Ellis, who plays the character Elphaba in Hollie’s favourite musical Wicked.
She said: “Katherine has a beautiful voice, Alexandra is brilliant and Kerry is in my favourite musical. It has been amazing I would love to have a record deal and be Elphaba from Wicked. I would love to be a pop star and be on the stage.
“When I got through to Britain’s Got Talent, I don’t know how I kept it quiet but I’m really, really chuffed and I really, really want to win.
“I have wanted to do this since I was five. I watched my brother Josh do dancing and singing as I was growing up and I wanted to do it too.”
Hollie impressed the judges with her singing of I Could Have Danced All Night from My Fair Lady.

Hello. Has Hollie secured a recording contract yet? If not, can someone phone me on 01407 ****** because I might be able to help. I am a recording musician about to release my second single, on my own label. A simultaneous launch would economize on time. I have a 24 track digital recorder and five synthesizers. Let’s get something out quick!
Kindest regards, Robert Owen.
Note from admin: phone number available if required.
Thanks to Mick and Georgi for your comments.. I do appreciate other’s advice and opinions, It’s good to mull over these things sometimes. We (as a family) will try our best to achieve success for Hollie and Josh but not to compromise on the fundamentals of what is improtant in life, that I havent forgotten and we will endeavour to instill that in Hollie and Josh. Cheers guys. Jason.
PS.
Hi Robert,
Sounds good to me but unfortunately Hollie is tied into Syco/TBT until Septmeber and is not allowed to record anything until then.. Don’t ask me why I think its just some contractual thing.
Let us know nearer the time.
Cheers mate,
Jason.
Dear Jason, Thanks for your reply. In the meantime, would it be OK for me to send Hollie a card? If so should I send it care of the Oakhill College or somewhere else?
I’ve got a suggestion for a song that Hollie might like to put on her first album. It was used as the theme tune for the Radio 4 classic serial “Dance To The Music of Time” The BBC were deluged with inquiries as to what the song was and was it available on CD. It was not! Although a boys’ coir was used, I think it would suit Hollie. At least with Hollie singing, you would be able to hear the words! The song is called “Believing” and it was composed and arranged by Richard Harvey. To play this song go to this URL,
http://www.westonemusic.com/search
then type Believing into the keyword box or the title box and it will come up. You probably won’t be able to record direct to your computer though. You won’t be able to hear any of the words either so here they are.
O be joyful in the time and a word
For now a song forever will be heard
O remember the scent of a rose
In the evening time it will slowly unfold
There is a feeling and a new way of seeing
O go your way into the path of believing
and into the Hall of Kings
And all of the children sing
And now the quiet song will be heard
Across the valley echoing the word
They are the children with a new way of seeing
O go your way into the path of believing
Lovely isn’t it?
Kindest regards, Robert.
