Hollie Steel in the Lancashire Telegraph and Burnley Citizen

Hollie Steel Christmas SinglesHollie Steel’s single is starting to get some of the press coverage that it deserves, thanks to Nina’s excellent work in promoting her daughter. Today, there are articles in both the Lancashire Telegraph and Burnley Express.

Hollie’s single, Where Are You Christmas?, is performing well in the HMV presale charts, despite the fact it has not received any airplay yet. Hollie’s mum Nina told the Lancashire Telegraph that  after just three days of being available on pre-order, Hollie’s single was at Number 10 for the most pre-ordered single.

Nina is urging everybody to back Hollie with more orders to help her dream come true and get Hollie a top ten hit for Christmas.

Nina describes Hollie’s single  as “beautiful” and says: “Currently Hollie’s single is just behind Robbie Williams’ and ahead of singles by Nelly Furtado, Alicia Keys and Morrisey – and the single should be played across radio stations within the next week.

“It is only the pre-order charts and it is early days but she could have been on the last page and instead she is on the first so it is a good sign.

“Especially as no-one has heard the song yet!

“If we can keep her pre-order numbers high then it means that she will get more air time when the single is released.

“It’s a very, very similar idea to the song ‘Walking In The Air’ from The Snowman. It’s a beautiful Christmas song with some quite powerful high notes.

“It starts off really, really sweet but it shows two sides to Hollie’s voice. By the end she is singing in quite a strong opera voice.

“The song is from ‘The Grinch’ and before the Britain’s Got Talent thing started Hollie loved it. She’s loved it for years.”

Hollie recorded the single  in October with the VVR2 record label.

“Recording the single was really exciting for Hollie. She had lots of fun.” said Nina.

Hollie has signed a two-single record deal with VVR2 and is hoping to get a contract to release an album, which is due to be finished in the new year.

In other news, Rolf Harris disappointingly chose to record a single with Status Quo, instead of performing a song he had written about a grandfather and granddaughter with Hollie which he had previously planned to do.

On Rolf’s change of heart, Nina said: “I didn’t hear anything from his manager about the decision despite getting positive feedback in the beginning.

“It is a project idea and could still happen next year or the year after, though.

“Hollie is doing really well on her own and in some ways it would be better to see her make it into the charts on her own efforts.

“She would love to be in the top ten and I really hope everyone will support her.”

“Where Are You Christmas”  will be played for the first time on radio stations nationwide over the next week and will be released on December 7th.

How wonderfull to hear Hollie’s first pre-order figures are this good. Let’s hope they will keep getting up until 7-12. Probably the first batch of pre-orders have come in easily, those are from people like us, who have been supporting Hollie ever since BGT. Now we need to keep spreading the word to get new supporters in. Apparently, CD’s which do well in pre-orders are interesting for radio stations to broadcast, that would be a big help of course. Luckily the CD costs next to nothing, so everybody will be able to afford it. I ordered my five copies 5 minutes ago, the price of those was less than the shipping costs to Holland. If you are a UK resident you don’t even have to pay sending, so it will cost you less than a pint of beer in the pub.

  • Nevin says:

That’s brilliant news, common guys let’s work on getting more people to buy it and keep Hollie in the top ten!

  • Nevin says:

Does anyone know when/if the single will be available for pre-order on amazon and itunes?

That’s funny, as the shipping costs to Europe announced on HMV site are as low as 2.50 UKP or so (is this per item?). I am exactly in the same shoes as you and am still undecided as to what to do. In the end, I hope I’ll be able to download the single digitally if none of the other options work out.

I should congratulate Nina on her work.

I don’t know why my sending costs are higher than yours Georgi, I just used the link on this website, and I ended up with an order for 5 CD’s (9,95) and 12,50 sending costs, via normal airmail. I undertsood that was the cheapest way. Anyway, I don’t really care about those extra 10 pounds.
By the way, I thought you had those CD’s ordered by a British colleague. In that case, the sending costs from HMV should be zero.

  • Georgi Velev says:

:( I just called our courier who have an office in London. They said they were unsure if the CDs would arrive to me in time for Christmas if I use free UK delivery to their office in London. Like Nevin, I am waiting for Amazon.com preorder link which hopefully will be announced here.

Dallas, Texas here, can we order from there and have the order count in the numbers for Hollie or do we need to wait until it is available in the US

  • Carmen says:

Number 10 already?! Well Number 1 shouldn’t be too hard then, especially after those two articles :)

  • Haselmaus says:

Number 10 from the pre-order singles, the chart list is from all also not pre-orders and alben!

  • Léopold says:

Number 11 now. Please, please, please pre-order now. If you don’t Hollie will become number 50 or less.

It says Hollie’s single will be released on December 14th. Any idea as to why they have changed the release date?

If they do release Hollie’s single on 14th there will be absolutely no chance for me to get the CD in time for Christmas. However, I may still order it and listen to it on Christmas 2010! I think the CD is worthwhile.

That´s such great news! I didn´t dare hoping for that good figures already! I ask the people I can get in touch with in UK to order her single too. Unfortunately I don´t know many but I think those ordering will also tell their friends about it. Keep the snowball rolling! Allan xxxxx

  • Haselmaus says:

Hei Georgi, there are 2 possibilities we (you have),

The first Dave send you (us foreigners) the ordered CDs, earlier then he give it out in UK, so we get them in the same time.

The Second: Or you say at home you celebra Christmas Gifts Day like in Spain when the 3 Kings was coming to Jesus in Stable.
In Spain on 24.12. only eat the Family Diner, and the gifts there give on 6. January!!!
    Lovely Greetings from Haselmaus

At the time of posting this , Hollie was at number 7 . if you havent ordered yet order now . If you have ordered find someone that hasent and get them to order.

  • Wouter says:

Blimey, I just checked (0.30 h) and Hollie is in 4th place of the pre-order charts! Whatever this caused it makes me very happy. Go darling, you deserve it!

    Wouter

  • Mick Uhl says:

Hollie temporarily moved to fourth due to a readjustment of the list (removing all the “now shipping” CDs). Today, Hollie is in sixth place. She still has advanced from the previous week. I don’t think first place is now out of reach for her sometime in the next two weeks.
