Hollie Steel appears in The Sun
The Sun newspaper have today published an article publicising Hollie Steel’s upcoming single release. This clearly marks the start of publicity for the release of Hollie’s Christmas single, Where are you Christmas?, in the media, so well done Nina, we knew you could do it!
However, the article in The Sun is factually incorrect, stating: “Hollie’s dream seemed over when she broke down during May’s BGT semi-finals. She begged Cowell for a second chance – but despite the music mogul, giving her another go she failed to make the final.”
Of course as we all know, Hollie did indeed make the final!
In the Sun article, Nina says of Hollie recording her single and album: “We’re doing this for her because it’s what she wants to do and she’s got all these songs she wants everybody to hear.
“It’s a really special experience for an 11-year-old to go into a recording studio but she just takes it in her stride and is still the same Hollie.”
Also, according to the article, the single will be available for download (so it will be undoubtedly available worldwide.) However, the article also states that Hollie now hopes to find a producer to get the album into shops, with Nina saying: “We’re hoping someone will come forward and sponsor her.”
You can read the complete report here.

Well, the Sun is read by a lot of people, so it’s a good medium to get the word out about Hollie’s CD. After all, not many will be sold if only a few people know it’s available. The header isn’t exactly tastefull (no surprise, the Sun isn’t The Times) and it suggests a controversy between Simon Cowell and Hollie that may not be real at all. Hollie will probably cringe when she sees the picture, too bad she’s still The Girl Who Cried for this tabloid. I hope other papers will use a more charming picture, they can find many of those at this website.

It’s exposure, yes, but the sun has just done what it’s best at doing and created drama out of nothing. The picture, stating that Hollie has something against Simon Cowell hence wants to get back at him, it’s all going to get the majority of the sun readers (let’s face it if you’re reading the sun you don’t really know how to think for yourself) to get on Hollie’s back again.
There needs to be a change of direction on how Hollie gets publicised, minimal reference to what happened in the semi finals, portraying her for who she really is, an innocent, sweet and hardworking child blessed with incredible talent, not what some people seem to think she is, ie spoilt, arrogant etc., which is what that article seems to be implying.
Sorry I’m not usually critical, but I genuinely care about Hollie doing well, and also the fact that I’m currently annoyed/angered by those comments under the article. People are so driven by media rubbish that they believe everything they read.
Hello sroll a little bit deeper on the site there wrote 5 persons till now comments that they not will buy the CD, ………….
we can make comments there that we will buy it and can tell that the ball in Bournemouth was very great from her!!
(I make it today in night= you have to register yourself before the comment)

Yes, it´s a shame the media keep talking about Hollie as the girl who cried. I hope it´ll change when her single and other records are out on the market and sold in high numbers. So let´s make sure that´s what happens.
Btw, Léopold, I understood every word you wrote to Wouter too, lol.
I am sure the article has been paid by the guy who is gonna win X Factor because he has been frightened that Hollie might get the top 1 in the charts. The article doesn’t deserve to be commented.

And the media once again shows it’s extraordinary talent for stirring up trouble out of nothingness, implying that Hollie has a grudge against Simon and remembering her as “the girl who famously cried on TV when she sang Edelweiss.” Anybody could tell them she made it to the final, excluding most of those commenters on the article who apparently believe whatever that newspaper wants them to. Lies, lies, lies……it’s a shame what some of the media is.
When I first read the article I had to get up & walk away from the computer. Hollie is such a sweetheart one hates to see her going through this replay of the semis once again. But just like YouTube I know her fans will fill up the comment section with positives to overcome the dumb negatives.
But strictly from a marketing position this could be good. Tying Simon into it with the headline, taking on X-Factor, plus the picture of Hollie really makes for a dramatic piece of publicity. People are going to have to listen to Hollie’s Christmas song to compare it to others. Hang in there Hollie, it’s all gonna work out.

hi I wrote now to the newspaper email tvbiz@the-sun.co.uk
following:
BRITAIN’S Got Talent youngster Hollie Steel could get her own back on Simon Cowell – by releasing a Christmas single to rival the next X Factor winner.
Good Morning Ladys and Gentlemen,

She is the best Talent which you have in the British world, and one moment one minute cannot spoil her lovely beeing.
I could not buy this number of your Edition this day, hope you will bring another picture from Hollie Steel, you will seen soon that she has more friends in foreign countries from Europa!
Such a gossip like today I would not read again in a newspaper like Sun!!

A much better article, referencing the sun’s article, but less dramatic.
I agree with you, Joe. This press can be very beneficial by directing national attention back to Hollie after several months of anonymity. Hollie hasn’t been written up in a major newspaper since the Rolf Harris announcement in late July. Actually, the article wasn’t critical; it just had to stir the pot and regurgitate old drama. It also made up some things like Hollie failing to get to the final. But isn’t that tabloids do to sell papers? The Sun is particularly egregious in this regard. They won’t report anything that doesn’t have some controversy or salaciousness about it. They’re also a couple of months out of date in several pronouncements. Hollie now has a record contract and no longer is subsidizing her album. Of course, the album release has been extended from Christmas to March. Once Hollie releases her Christmas single, I expect all of this will no longer matter.
I had about the same reaction as Joe when I read the article this rag has written about Hollie. Fortunately she doesn’t seem to mind it so much herself reading her last message, but if I were Hollie, I wouldn’t be too pleased about it.
Anyway, I think the people who will appreciate the beauty of Hollie’s voice and buy her album will probably be a little more sophisticated than the average Sun reader, so let’s hope some more serious newspaper will pick it up.
If you want to get an idea about who reads The Sun, look at this fragment from the comedy Yes Prime Minister:

Leopold, thanks for that other link, it’s a lot nicer and less biased than the Sun crap. However, I worry the others my find it a bit rude if we communicate at this message board in a language only a few of us can understand. I don’t think I would enjoy it if people post messages here in Bulgarian or Polish.

Did someone say ‘bad publicity is better than no publicity at all’
I am happy that again one of my pictures is featured on holliesteel.org.uk Perhaps I am not that bad a photographer

I liked Haselmaus’s reaction very much.
