Hollie is back from Bali
Hollie Steel has just arrived back from Bali with her mum, Nina. Nina has been having a little look at the site and your comments, and has this to say about Hollie’s upcoming single:
Dear Friends
We are just back from Bali, we didnt realise the song name had been announced, I promise you, it won’t sound anything like Faith Hill. (Although I think Faith Hill’s version is lovely). Hollie sings the song in a completely different key (guess if its going to be higher or lower!).She sings the song more like a beautiful choir girl, perfect we feel for christmas. There won’t be any pop music heading your way from Hollie just yet.
Nina X

It’s going to be so pretty in a different key (even though I think the song is pretty in the first place)!
Thank you Mrs. Steel!
I think Where are you Christmas is a really great song! It’s one of my fav Christmas songs. The choir that I’m in is gonin to sing this song in the Christmas Gala!
Can’t wait to hear Hollie’s version of Where are you Christmas!!! I am sure it’s gonna be great!
Pop music would be a good idea ,it is more commercialy viable. A lot of the younger generation dont like classical opera and musicals, that is why its mostly the young teens that give her abuse . A decent pop or dance track would turn that about if interested i can provide dozens of popular dance tracks in Hollies key.
Hollie shouldn’t sing pop music just because people want her to. If she wants to become a pop artist that’s okay but as long as she is interested in classics/opera that is what she should sing. If a singer sings a song he/she doesn’t want to sing you can hear it in their voice and it would be no different with Hollie.
The Haselmaus is back from France,
there are many news here to read. I was unhappy that now to the internetpoints you have to have your own laptop, and there was only in the swimhall café a place 2,60 € for 40 minute to go in Internet, so I checked only my web for post.
Nice to read now all news. As I wonder how sell Helene Fischer much CDs and the Nockalm quintett last CD for 20€ got diamant, as the people like to have the original, and not a bad copy. I think it is only important that Hollies get some invitations in TV shows Saturday evening. Perhaps she can sing Edelweiß in english AND in German on the CD! Her pronouncing is very good for German (right – nicht wahr Dieter???)
Liebe Grüße and good luck for all von der Haselmaus
hello u all i see i few thing happend in the time i was on a classtrip, i´m going to duder stadt today
funny name
Hi Kevin,
what have you seen in Duderstadt? I know the Townname because there was the Omnibus starting (Firma) who made in 1985 the Travel to Norge, abd in 1987 to Camargue Naturstudienreisegesellschaft, there were many Ornitologdes in the Group, who shows to the Birds Hardanger Vidda, Dofre Fjell, Trondheim Island Runde, and only I saw a big Bird Regenbrachvogel with big Schnabel.

Banish the day she sells out to pop music and abusive teen angst.
Hollie’s destined to be one of the great ballad singers in the Bob Dylan, Nora Jones, Joni Mitchel and Bonnie Raitt tradition, all very ‘commercially viable’ artists with depth and relevance. Mixed with the classics, her voice/career will have no equal.
I definitely agree with your comment about pop music sell out, Alex. Although, if anyone could survive the pitfalls of pop divadom and still attain musical theatre and classical fame, it would be Hollie.
I’m not sure about the great ballad singers, though. Like pop singers, they emphasize style over voice. Did you notice that every singer you named writes her(his) own songs and some of them (Bob Dylan, in particular) have awful voices?
Wow! I believe you are the only one I know that thinks these artists have awful voices. Dylan’s isn’t ‘pretty’ but it’s wonderfully unique, and has earned him a comfortable and sustained career.
Key word is ‘sustained’. 40 years and still singing and producing new material. It is extremely rare for pop idols to remain relevant beyond last year’s fashions. I guess my point is, if Hollie wants to avoid a cookie-cutter career, then pop music should be avoided. A few, well-chosen songs, of course, just not as a career choice.
Just my two pence.
Hi Alex,
I remember first hearing Bob Dylan around 1963 and wondering who let him make a record. I was so accustomed to melodious pop singers, Bob was quite a shock to me. I never liked folk music all that much for precisely that reason. Folk music was much more the message than the singing. I also feel the same way about Joni Mitchell. I am not criticizing their style, song writing, message, or whatever makes them popular just the physical quality of their voices.
I’m probably going to sound very ignorant in asking this
, but what on earth were they doing in Bali?
And here is yet another Hollie Steel tribute video:

Nothing special, but I’m just saying, there’s a lot of them!:)
During my travel I thought about Pop = Popular music, Music of or for the Folk people, in German Volksmusik, Volkslieder.
Why only, or just im Music which narmal shall verbindet, verbinden the people, why in Music would parted Popmusic Popular music Volksmusic, Classicmusik Churchmusic Musical?
there are an nich song from a Volksmusikgroup, the two sisters Sigrid and Marina and the “Haderlump’n” got GOLD for this song:

Zillertaler Haderlumpen mit Sigrid & Marina – Alles hat zwei Seiten 2008
All has 2 sites
manchmal last sich’s streiten, was man lieber hätt
Schlager oder Polka, Jodler oder Pop
Alles hat zwei Seiten, sonst geht eine ab
Wir spielen oft oben in klarer Luft
mitten in Alpenblumenwiesenduft
manchmal last sich’s streiten, was man lieber hätt
Schlager oder Polka, Jodler oder Pop
Alles hat zwei Seiten, sonst geht eine ab
Alles hat zwei Seiten (Alles hat zwei Seiten),
sonst wär’s nicht komplett (sonst wär’s nicht komplett),
manchmal last sich’s streiten (manchmal last sich’s streiten),
was man lieber hätt (was man lieber hätt),
Schlager oder Polka (Schlager oder Polka),
Jodler oder Pop
Alles hat zwei Seiten,
sonst geht eine ab.

Here’s Google’s translation into English:
Hm. I would like her to continue in classics / opera style. There will always be people who will love that kind of music – including youngsters. Even in Bulgaria the concert halls are always overcrowded. Classical music is much more sophisticated, pleasant to listen to, interesting, dramatic, melodic etc, etc. There are no classical works that are ‘so dull and even that no-one would like to hum them’. The message of classical music is much more touching than that of the mass music.
The most successful mass music is rap and the likes of ‘Pitbull’ with his ‘I know you want me’ which I have already nominated for ‘the most giftless song’ award.
Personally, I would love to see her on the stage as Christine from the Phantom of the Opera. That’s something that would certainly make me fly to England again.

And when I try to explain the very thing you just said about classic music to a few people of my acquaintance, they still refuse to open their mind. Happily that’s only a few people, and like you said classic/opera music will always be appreciated by people of all ages, so Hollie will never have to record any mainstream music if she doesn’t want to.
Carmen,
Hollie (& Nina) went to Bali to perform at a VIP function.
okay thank you
Found another fan video. I haven’t seen a few of the pictures in this one before.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crxtQXbLiy4
