Hollie Steel Chat and News Round Up
For those of you who missed Hollie’s chat with us on Sunday, Hollie said that she had done well in her dance exams and that the examiner was “really nice”. Hollie was tested in ballet, jazz and tap dancing but won’t get her results for three weeks.
Hollie also told us about a charity show she had performed in a show on Sunday, in aid of a mother and baby who were tragically run over in Accrington.
Hollie let on that she has already been planning songs to sing for album number two, and is considering “Think of Me” and “I Feel Pretty”.
Talking about feeling pretty, those of you who have been on Facebook will see that Hollie is in the final of “Miss Mini Photographic UK”. No wonder Hollie feels pretty! We hope you win, Hollie!
Despite everything that Hollie has been up to recently, she is still doing really well at school, receiving As on her school report card. What a clever girl.
Hollie also let us know that Nina stuck all the crystals on the outfit on the left. A labour of love
Hollie’s Single Edelweiss Out Today!
Hollie Steel’s second single, Edelweiss, is out today and available for immediate download from the store. I have just downloaded and listened to both of the versions – one of the versions is a “Radio Edit” and slightly shorter in length. The process of ordering and downloading the single was extremely simple and you don’t have to download any software – all you download is the song in MP3 format. All tracks are high quality 192Kbits and can be downloaded up to three times.
The single is beautiful. Hollie’s voice is crisp, clear and polished and the piano accompaniment superb. You will be not be disappointed.
Listen to Hollie Steel on BBC iPlayer
Léopold has alerted me to a live radio interview that Hollie did for BBC Radio Lancashire yesterday. The presenter of the show was Sally Naden, and the show was broadcast at 11:00am yesterday morning.
Fortunately, “if you missed Hollie’s stunning performance, you can catch the recorded version at this BBC URL – Hollie’s first song is at 15:15 and the second one is at 43:00 min.”
If you see: “This content doen’t seem to be working, try again later,” when you access URL, try again later. I did and it worked for me.
The first song Hollie sings is her upcoming single, Edelweiss. The second song she performs is Nessun Dorma. Hollie’s performance is absolutely magnificent – spine tingling.
The photo on the left isn’t from the interview – it’s from Hong Kong. I don’t like to post without a Hollie photo though.
Hollie Filmed for BBC Pilot
Hollie Steel is being filmed for a BBC pilot documentary. We don’t know if the documentary will be made or not yet, as it was just a taster, but I’m hopeful that it will be as I think it would make great viewing.
In the chat last night, Hollie also treated us to the secret behind her favourite magic trick. It’s the “Disappearing Water” trick. Here’s what you do – put a tissue in the bottom of a cup, which nobody can see. Then, pour a liitle bit of water into the cup. When you turn the cup upside down – Hey Presto! – it looks like the water has disappeared, but really the tissue soaked it up! Cool!
Hollie Steel Mini Tour Dates
Here are the dates for Hollie’s upcoming mini tour:
Nina is sorting out some posters, but she needs to wait until the box offices at the various venues make the tickets available before she can do this.
I am planning on going to Oswaldtwistle on July 3rd, so if any of you are going to that then come and say “Hello”. I would love to meet you
A Hollie Steel Theme for Firefox
Whilst browsing the internet, I came across some “Personas” for Firefox that use photos of Hollie Steel – one uses the groovy photo of Hollie holding an electric guitar. With these Personas, or themes, you can modify the appearance of the Firefox web browser so that you have Hollie’s face looking at you.
Here are the two Personas, which have been created by “Fitchman”, who must be a visitor to this or the US site.

If you visit this page and put your cursor over one of the photos, you will see how it can transform your browser. There are full instructions on the site. I had a go, and found it easy to add and remove the Hollie theme.
Well done, Fitchman, whoever you are!
Hollie Steel Album and Mini Tour
Hollie Steel was in the chat room again yesterday, and there was lots of news and gossip.
The art proofs and mastered music for Hollie’s album are being sent to the factory today!
Somehow the topic of conversation got on to pets. Cats and dogs were being discussed. Hollie’s dog, Sasha, was photographed with Hollie during the photo shoot for Hollie’s album and she managed to get dirty pawprints on the white material being used in the shoot! Can you see them on the photo above?
The radio stations are again refusing to play Hollie’s single, “Edelweiss”, saying that it is “too slow”, which is really just an excuse. It is irritating that only established artists and record labels receive exposure, regardless of the merits of the recording. However, this time Nina was prepared! Hollie’s music will be heard on the TV and radio adverts. When everyone hears Hollie’s version of Edelweiss – and she is even more accomplished now than she was on Britain’s Got Talent – there will be increased pressure on the radio stations to play the track.
Meanwhile, there is no time for this musical little girl to rest on her laurels. She has a piano exam in June and a ballet exam in just two weeks time, followed by dance exams in tap and jazz.
Nina also let slip the locations of Hollie’s upcoming mini tour – Hollie will be performing at Manchester, Exeter, Leatherhead, Oswaldtwistle and London. Watch this space for dates…
Hollie Steel Chat Update
Hollie Steel was in the chat room again yesterday and she shared some exciting news with us.
Hollie is going to be in a TV advert that will be screened on ITV in the Granada region. Wow! That should give her debut album some much needed publicity and everyone will start to sit up and take notice of our little star. I’m hopeful that I will be able to obtain a copy of the advert to put it on the website so that everyone can see it.
Hollie is also going to be doing an interview on Smooth Radio, a radio station based in London. However, Smooth Radio can be listened to online so hopefully we will all get the chance to hear the interview.
Hollie also shared some photos with us. The first (on the left) is one of the one’s taken during the photo session for Hollie’s album. Hollie said that she couldn’t stop laughing because rose petals were being thrown over her.
The second one is of Hollie the “rock chick”. Doesn’t she look funky with an electric guitar? However, Hollie did confide that she couldn’t really play the electric guitar, she was just pretending.
Hollie – with your voice you don’t need to be able to play the electric guitar!
